Royal Kafila
Undertake
a journey through time and soak in the atmosphere of the way royalty of yore travelled
in the desert. The royal Kafila comprises of 10 to 12 camel carts exquisitely
designed and decorated in the traditional manner. The carts reflect the designs
that were prevalent during different periods of history. The carts are double
as well as multi-seaters with their own exclusive camel driver. A provision carriage
and out-riders accompany the Kafila and as dusk falls and night sets in, torchbearers
to show the way. The Resort has three types of Royal Camel Kafilas:
The Pilgrimage Kafila - to Pushkar Town
One of the most prevalent forms of travel earlier was for a pilgrimage to various sacred sites in the country. The journey could last for months and was an elaborate exercise with frequent halts, visits to various towns and villages and was conducted with an atmosphere of religious fervor inter-mingled with joy and gaiety. Pushkar Resorts recreates the atmosphere with a Kafila to Pushkar. A brief description of the Kafila is as follows:
The guests are seen off in the traditional manner by a group of women and girls with songs, aarti and holy tikka ceremony.
The journey to Pushkar, across the scenic dunes, is approx. 40 minutes with a short tea / coffee.
On reaching Pushkar the guests are escorted to the Brahma Temple and one or two other famous temples, the bathing ghats and then to wander through the quaint streets of Pushkar.
The guests are escorted back to the Resort in vehicles.
The
Kafila of Love - a journey to nowhere...In times gone by, rulers used to undertake elaborate journeys throughout their kingdom to keep in touch with their subjects. The resort recreates the experience to add a unique event during a stay at Pushkar.
The Desert Romance - A magical experience of a short ride across the dunes in the moonlight. Campfire, refreshments and entertainment, if desired, can be arranged.
The Desert Spectacular - We create a dinner of the Maharajas of yore. Following a short ride in the desert, enter the camp and enjoy a grand dinner under the stars. The backdrop of a moonlit night, mashals, camels and entertainment will leave you with enchanting memories. Fireworks can enliven the evening if desired.
The Kafila of Hospitality - a journey to village settlements
The Royal Kafila makes a short visit to the village settlements where guests get a feel of the authentic village life of Rajasthan - see typical village craftsmen, meet with the village elders and taste the local food specially prepared for them. In today's world of jet travel, fast cars and the hustle of life enjoy a memorable experience with the Royal Kafila at Pushkar Resorts.
