Lake Palace
Udaipur,
the famed 'city of sunrise', was founded in 1567 by Maharana Udai Singh, a fearless
Rajput king. This languid lake city with its fantasies in marble, picturesque
hibiscus-covered gardens and elaborate fountain pavilions, embodies the glory
of the Rajput era. Like many other cities in Rajasthan, Udaipur is the legacy
of an honour-bound race that loved the good things in life - and often gave up
their lives defending them. The Taj Lake Palace is a marble fantasy that floats magically on the still blue waters of Lake Pichola. The hotel has 84 rooms including 17 suites, some of which are breathtakingly beautiful. The Taj Lake Palace is located 26 km from the Udaipur airport and a kilometre from the city centre.
The hotel is in fact a white marble palace that seems to float miraculously on the still waters of Lake Pichola. Probably the most romantic hotel in the world, this 250-year old palace offers guests a unique blend of serenity and opulence
